Ultralight and comfortable, the Exped Vela 1 tent is the perfect choice for three-season campers who like to stay nimble on the trail. The Vela 1 features a fully functional layout, with a 18-square-foot living space that allows one person to stretch out comfortably and two people to sleep snugly.
The ultralight Vela 1 tent sets up in 1-1/2 minutes, making it ideal for hikers who want to stay nimble. The tent also boasts a large vestibule that's easily accessible from the inside of the tent. The vestibule is large enough to store all your gear, although you can also bring some of your gear inside thanks to the long, wide floor plan.
To ensure a good view from your campsite, Exped added a wide-open door that raises tall while still protecting you from the elements. The versatility extends to the Vela 1's stormproof design. The weather-resistant features start with an aerodynamic shape at the foot end, which ties down securely via the tie-down loops to face high winds. The tent's ingenious, flat-pole sleeves also hold up to extreme weather, with double seams and stitching to ensure maximum strength. Finally, you can roll up the rainfly from either end to access the mesh windows, or use the hood-protected chimney vent to keep things fresh.
Best of all, the tent offers Exped's multi-function blueprint. You can pitch the fly by itself to create a simple covered shelter, use the canopy alone on mild nights, or use both to create a tough cold-weather tent. Other features include an ingenious zip-free door with a quick-release buckle and awning-like pull cord; an easy-pitch design; snow and sand anchors; and a versatile accessory bag with separate compartments for the poles, tent pegs, and spares.
