The three-room Meramac is a large, well thought-out tent with enough room for the entire familyand then some. The three-room layout provides versatility and privacy, and the tent's freestanding design is made possible by four shock-corded fiberglass poles, which attach with easy-to-use clips, as well as ring-and-pin corners. The roof is made of breathable, 1.9-ounce nylon taffeta with three mesh vents for improved ventilation. Two large mesh windows, one in the back and one on the front door, as well as smaller side windows keep things light, bright, and fresh inside the tent. A hooded fly at the front and rear permits window venting even in the rain, and the fly attaches to the tent with stress-absorbing shock cords and S-hooks, while the door hinges to the side for easy entry and exit.
ALPS Mountaineering tents offer outstanding weather protection, with full coverage rainflys and above-average waterproofing. Thick, multi-pass coating on floors and fly sheets provide added water repellency, and factory-sealed seams help keep things closed up tight. Large zippers, combined with strong fabrics and extra reinforcement sewing, make them remarkably durable.
